Click it, watch it and live it out!... This 10 minute video will recap the last two weeks in Uganda as John Garrick shares with you personal insights from his spiritual journey and hopefully inspire all of us to radically ask God what it means to live-out our faith beyond belief, with action and in truth!
Appreciated the last two videos John. What you are learning rings true in my heart as well. I see the United States as the toughest mission field in the world and we are doing the same thing in the church that they do in business and government here: throw money at the problem!!! You spoke in your Oxford entry about silence and listening to God. CS Lewis wrote in "The Screwtape Letters" that noise is the music of hell. That is our #1 issue, in my opinion: we cannot hear God or the suffering in the world because there is too much noise. When people go to Africa (I've lead a lot of teams), they think they discover God there, but the truth is that they get in the quiet of a culture not driven and oppressed by noise and they are still for the first time and they become aware that they are standing on holy ground. The trick is helping them understand that the ground in Africa isn't different than it is here - they just shut up long enough to wake up. That's why Africa, used correctly, can be a powerful teaching tool. When people become silent and awake, then they begin to give because money and giving and sacrifcie just becomes superfluous - expressions of being born in the spirit. (-: Jesus described it as a wind - no one knows where it is coming from or where it is going.
Great stuff man....thank you.
